Wet weather, especially spring heavy downpours that can flood roads with inches of rushing water, can present a variety of concerns for drivers: reduced traction, reduced visibility, debris washed on to roads and the potential for other vehicles to lose control.
All of the above hazards are good reasons to drive at or below posted speeds and to leave plenty of room between you and the next car. Always keep your windshield wipers in good working order and top off washer fluid so that your view is as clear as possible.
Roads can often be especially slick just after the rain begins as oils and other fluids on the dry surface mix with rain water. As rains continue, roads may become flooded too. NEVER attempt to drive through moving water!
During strong thunderstorms or heavy rain tune your radio to local news to be alerted to traffic issues or flooded roads in your area.
